1740s serpentine commode with its original marble, original gilt metalwork, and in great condition with all veneers present and its original unrepolished patina. Very minor losses to veneers have been sympathetically replaced using period veneers.

Provenance:
The McCorquedale family. The Lodge at Suisgill, Kildonan, Sutherland, with Barbara Cartland. Bought at "The Barbara Cartland Sale" by the Campbell-Wilson family in 1946.

Oak, kingwood parquetry, walnut drawer linings, marble, original ormolu mounts and handles.

Origin: France. Period: 1740. Style: Louis XV.
