Made in Florence 1860-1880, this monumental and unique carved wood pair of torcheres depicts the age old theme of the triumph of good over evil. The mischeivous impish Fauns, perhaps Pan and Bacchus, are lowest and kneeling. They are below the seraphs with innocent faces, and whose forms rise above the lowly fauns. In turn they are holding the hammered iron sconces on high, which hold large candles, representing the light of Divinity.

A rare and extraordinary pair.
