Black Forest carved birds, circa 1900. Black glass eyes.


Made in the Black Forest around 1890-1900 these swifts are all individually carved. They have black glass eyes. There are some imperfections such as a wing tip missing or a nibble off the beak, but they are unique and have a special magic.

They vary in size with wing spans from 5 cms to over 10cms.

There were thirty-five but only nine remain (4th Dec 20070 Each is £25

Some have been sold to make them into brooches by simply adding a pin, some for decoration or gifts.
