A collection of over fourty paintings by the Scottish born Royal Academician, Sir William Russell Flint RA, PRSW 1880- 1969, whose paintings are among the most sought after in the world, are available from Young & Son. They have been put together over a period of sixty years by a collector who personally knew the artist. They comprise large figurative works, beach scenes, alpine ski scenes, landscapes, including two of Malta, arcadian scenes, red chalk drawings of dancers and models, some of the original water colour illustrations for Malory's Le Morte D'Arthur, the Pirates of Penzance and other Savoy Opera scenes. There are paintings relating to historically important events such as a large waterclour depicting the work of the Girls of the Women's Land Army re-formed from WWI in 1939, and an oil painting from the 1930s of three unarmed peasant women defending the entrance of a Church housing civilian refugees, from the Fascist troops at the time of the Spanish Civil War.
